At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Identify the clinical indications for a sural nerve block in foot and ankle surgeries, including its role in providing sensory coverage for the lateral foot and ankle.
Implement the sural nerve block technique effectively, ensuring proper needle placement and local anesthetic administration for optimal analgesia.
Apply appropriate patient monitoring and safety measures during the procedure, including ensuring the availability of resuscitation equipment and the presence of a dedicated nurse.
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgeons to optimize outcomes and address any complications during the sural nerve block procedure.
