Activity Description

Agnosia is a rare disorder whereby patients cannot recognize and identify objects, persons, or sounds using one or more of their senses despite otherwise normally functioning senses. This activity reviews the evaluation and management of agnosia and highlights the role of the interprofessional team in recognizing and managing agnosia.


Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician associates, nurses, pharmacists, and nurse practitioners.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:

  • Identify the pathophysiologic basis of agnosia.

  • Assess the expected history and physical findings for a patient with agnosia.

  • Evaluate the treatment options available for agnosia.

  • Communicate the interprofessional team strategies for improving care coordination for patients with agnosia.
