Activity Description

Otoplasty, or ear reshaping surgery, is a cosmetic and reconstructive procedure designed to correct deformities or irregularities of the auricle, such as prominent ears, asymmetry, or underdevelopment. The procedure aims to restore normal auricular proportions and alignment, improving aesthetic appearance and patient confidence. A detailed understanding of auricular anatomy, including dimensions, angles, and structural relationships, is essential for achieving optimal results while preserving function and avoiding complications. Otoplasty is often performed on children and adults, addressing congenital or acquired ear deformities with techniques that vary based on individual patient anatomy and goals.

Clinicians participating in this course gain comprehensive knowledge of auricular anatomy, surgical techniques, and patient selection criteria for otoplasty. They learn evidence-based approaches to preoperative assessment, surgical planning, postoperative care, and strategies to minimize complications. The course also emphasizes effective communication and collaboration within the interprofessional team to enhance patient outcomes and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

  • Collaborate with all members of the interprofessional team, providing exemplary care for patients with auricular deformities undergoing otoplasty to optimize surgical outcomes and minimize complications.
