What is the most common presentation of an infant with Tetralogy of Fallot?
Select Your Answer:
Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is usually detected a few weeks or months after birth with symptoms of cyanosis.
Other symptoms include feeding difficulties, failure to thrive, and clubbing of the digits.
TOF accounts for about 10% of congenital heart disease. Both sexes are affected, but the incidence is slightly greater in males.
TOF is surgically treated in the first year of life. Shunts are rarely used today because primary surgery appears to have promising results.
