What is the first step in treating an unresponsive patient?
Select Your Answer:
The most important step with the encounter of an unresponsive patient is an attempt to wake the victim before any action. This is commonly referred to as checking the level of consciousness or responsiveness. AVPU stands for the resulting levels of this assessment. The AVPU is an acronym for "alert, voice, pain, and unresponsive.".
Then the sequence is Circulation, Airway, and Breathing (CAB).
As this patient is unresponsive the next step is to check circulation.
