Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Differentiate dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans from other skin lesions, such as dermatofibromas and other soft tissue sarcomas, based on characteristic features and immunohistochemical staining patterns.
Select appropriate diagnostic modalities, including biopsy techniques and molecular testing, into the diagnostic workup of patients suspected of having dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
Implement evidence-based treatment approaches, such as surgical excision with wide margins, Mohs micrographic surgery, radiation therapy, and targeted therapies, in managing dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to improve care coordination and communication to enhance outcomes for patients affected by dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
